Free Open Day, Saturday March 26th (Easter Weekend)

February 12, 2016

We’re so pleased to tell you that, for the first time in many years, we will be holding a free of charge open day on Saturday March 26th (Easter Weekend), from 9.30-5.30. Normally only open to visitors on a joint ticket with Skara Brae, for one day only get free access to Orkney’s finest 17th Century Mansion. Explore the rooms of the house, its collections and its grounds, and experience a family home as it was in the 1950s. Children are very welcome and can join in our much loved Viking Hunt or Kids Quiz. Weather permitting there will be falconry displays in the walled kitchen garden. Additionally, we will be launching our new exhibition on Colonel Scarth’s Service with the White Russian Forces, showcasing a photography exhibition in our Art Porch, ‘Orkney H20’, by local photographer Ian Birrell, and relaunching our much improved gift shop, with many new stockists from near and far. Teas, Coffees, cold drinks, ice-creams and snacks will be available for you to enjoy in our sheltered 18th Century Courtyard. Everybody is welcome and we hope to see some of you there
